Sexual harassment is unwelcome attention of a sexual nature. It may include behavior from a mild transgression or harassment to serious abuse. Sexual harassment is a form of sexual discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Approximately 15,000 sexual harassment cases are brought to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) each year. Media and government surveys estimate the percentage of women being sexually harassed in the United States workplace to be between 40% and 60%. It affects both women and men, often causing stress and financial hardship when a victim feels the need to leave their place of employment in order to avoid being harassed.
