San Antonio Nurses Report Unsafe Conditions

It was just last week that nurses who work at the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital's Intensive Care Unit revealed that they were having major staffing and patient care issues. On the heels of that report comes another revelation from the San Antonio area. This time from nurses at University Hospital who are going public with this information for the first time. No doubt, the bravery of the nurses at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital's inspired them to come forward. The university Hospital Nurses admitted toNews 4 WOAI's David Cruz that they feared loseing their jobs. However, they are much more concerned about inadequate patient care.

University Hospital nurse Imelda Balderas said ""There's not enough nurses to take care of patients being admitted into the ER. That's as simple as it is." She then claimed that the under staffing problems have lead to patient injuries and even death!! Cruz said she was certain of that fact. University Hospital Spokesperson Lenny Kirkman disputes the claims of the nurses who are speaking out. For their part, the nurses intend to gather outside of the ER room entrance to call attention to their demands for better conditions. I salute their bravery. It may save lives in the future, which is the very reason many seek hospital care.
