Can you imagine the horror of finding yourself cornered by your neighbor's pit bull. That is exactly what happened to Dave Monroe. As a result of that experience, Monroe was at the Wabash City Council meetings on October 22 calling for tuffer regulations against pit bulls, and who can blame him.

Mayor Bob Banlandingham is looking into the issue. An issue that many cities deal with. Manroe did his research. He noted that every 40 seconds someone in the United States seeks medical attention for a dog bite and there are approximately 800,000 bites per year. Six out of every ten people bitten are under the age of ten. Additionally, "Dog bite losses exceed $1 billion per year, with more than $300 million paid by insurance companies." Of the pit bull encounter, Monroe explained "I had a crowbar in my hand and was ready for an attack, but I wouldn't have stood a chance if she (the owner) hadn't shown up," he told the Plain Dealer. "Nobody should have to live like that."
