Boy's Lip Is Ripped from His Face in a Dog Attack

In North Tyneside, England a nine-year-old boy, John Henderson, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent a two-hour surgery after being attacked by the family dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier mix. His lip was ripped from his face when he took a bite of a cookie that clearly the dog wanted.

John's mother said the incident was just horrible, "their worst nightmare." Apparently, the family owned two Staffordshire bull terriers. The family will not know for approximately six weeks whether John will be scarred for life. John's mother said she will never have dogs in her home again. The offending family dog, Simba, was put down, and the other family dog was removed from the home and given to a friend.

This incident comes just one week after a 17-year-old model, Elisha Gwynne, of Highgate, Birmingham, was a victim of a dog attack. The attack on Elisha was also by a Staffordshire bull terrier. She has been badly scared for life. Hopefully, John will be more fortunate.
