Pet Food Recall Reaches Overseas

In what is being described as a precautionary measure, Hill's Pet Nutrition, have recalled all stock of their Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry food in South Africa. Royal Canin, one of the premier petfood companies, will also pull Vet's Choice brand from the shelves since there are signs of contamination.

It has been reported that in Cape Town and Johannesburg, 19 dogs presented with acute renal failure, all of whom appeared to have ingested contaminated petfood, specifically Vet's Choice products. It is interesting to note, however, that different ingredients were used in the manufacturing process. Accordingly, the fact that petfood is contaminated in both the U.S. and abroad is said to be purely coincidental. Stay tuned.
