Defective Product Injures at Least 160 Children

Greg OwenMay 11, 2007 4:16 PMOn Friday, the Ohio company, Evenflo Company Inc., announced a recall of the Evenflo Embraceâ„¢ Infant Car Seat/Carriers. The number of infant car seats involved in the recall is approximately 450.000. It appears that the handle on the infant carrier can release unexpectedly. The unexpected release causes the seat to rapidly rotate forward and from there you can imagine the types of injuries an infant can suffer when thrown from a seat to the ground, face first. It is horrible thing to happen to an innocent child, and you can just imagine the shock the parents and/or care takers went through when suddenly the baby is ejected from the seat for no apparent reason.
To date, Evenflo has received 679 reports of the handle on the car seat/carriers unexpectedly releasing. As a result of this default as many as 160 children have received injuries, including, but not limited to a skull fracture, two concussions, cuts, scrapes and bruises.
If you purchased or are using an "Evenflo Embraceâ„¢ Infant Car Seat/Carriers made before April 8, 2006. The recalled car seat/carriers have model numbers beginning with 317, 320, 397, 398, 540, 548, 549, 550, 556, 597, 598 or 599," which were sold between from December 2004 through September 2006, discontinue use immediately and call Evenflo at (800) 490-7497 in order to get assistance with this dangerous defective product. Should you have an infant who has suffered injuries as a result of this defective product, it would be a good idea to obtain legal advise.
