Defective Product in the Form of Chinese Toothpaste

This is not some bad joke folks. While it is indeed bad, it is not joke. The poisonous chemical diethylene glycol (DEG), which is used in antifreeze and as a solvent, has been found in toothpaste imported from China. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an alert and is trying to prevent the toothpaste from entering the United States.

A really good rule of thumb is, if the toothpaste states "made in China" do not use it. It may be a defective product. Children and individuals with kidney or liver disease are particularly at risk. There have been reports of deaths and injuries in other countries due to ingesting DEG-contaminated pharmaceutical preparations, such as cough syrups and acetaminophen syrup.
