Contaminated Pet Food Recall Widens

It has been almost one month since the news broke about the pet-food recall. Albeit for the animals who ate the tainted food, the fallout had begun quite some time prior to the announcement. Congress has begun to seriously question the Food and Drug administration. They want answers as to how this could have happened.

The reality is that consumers do not feel safe, given the fact that information was withheld from them by the manufacturer causing serious harm and/or death to their beloved companions. Further, additional brands of contaminated pet food are being added to the recall list as more and more pet food is being removed from store shelves. Rather than relying on the latest list of contaminated products, consumers would be well advised to contact the manufacturer directly with questions any pet-food products that they are using.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) reminds us: If your pet shows the classic signs of having ingested contaminated pet food such as vomiting, change in water consumption and/or urination, loss of appetite, and/or sluggishness you should contact your vet and seek treatment for your pet immediately.
