Since the pet food recall begun on March 16, and the subsequent news that contaminated pet food had reached the human food supply, the Food and Drug Administration stated that it will test ingredients imported for use in human food. The question the FDA is looking into is whether contaminants are in other concentrates that may be getting into the pet food and/or human food.

Dr. David Acheson, chief medical officer for the FDA's Center of Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, recently said
"Right now, there's no indication that is happening, but we know there are other types of protein concentrates that come into the United States, and we think in the interest of public health, that we should get out there and look for it," Acheson said Wednesday. Federal officials said that a poultry farm in Missouri is currently under investigation. Some of the imported products being tested in the animal and human food supply are: Wheat gluten, corn gluten, cornmeal, rice bran and rice protein.
