The use of refrigerated blood storage has been around since 1915. Prior to that, the transference of blood was vain to vain only. With the number of surgeries, traffic accidents and the like, it is a much needed resource. The only thing more important than the ability to store the blood is having the blood to store. With that said, donating blood isn't always on the forefront of people's minds.

The Blood Bank is still reaping in donations more than a day after its plea to help a motorcycle accident victim. As difficult as it is to imagine, the 160 pints of blood that have been donated are almost gone.

In Coachella, three victims were rushed to hospital after their cars collided. Caleb Barton severed his arm in a motorcycle accident over the weekend and desperately needs type O blood. It's the type that the blood bank has actually been begging for years. It's more that just Caleb Barton who is in need of blood. In another tragic accident
in Indio, two men were badly hurt one of them had to be airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center.

These people need help. The truth is, donating blood is easy, painless and free. One day you or a loved one may be on the receiving end. Give now and give often.
